Affordable, quality schooling can be difficult to find. At St James Lutheran College, we pride ourselves on providing a supportive community atmosphere in which your child/children can grow.
Students receive the best possible start in life because they are taught to respect each other and to respect themselves. They are also encouraged and shown how to succeed in today’s technological society.
Each child deserves a school that prepares them effectively for their future through offering guidance, support and encouragement. At St James Lutheran College, we work in partnership with parents/carers to provide this environment. Each student is valued as an individual and is encouraged to develop to the best of their potential: academically; spiritually; and in the sporting and cultural arenas. We are in partnership with you and your children; your involvement in your child’s education is vital.
Services covered by the National Quality Framework have been assessed and rated against the seven Quality Areas of the National Quality Standard and the Education and Care Services National Regulations. The assessment and rating process aims to drive continuous quality improvement for services and provide families with better information for making choices about their children’s education and care. The overall rating for a service is determined by the combination of the ratings achieved in each Quality Area.
Each state and territory Regulatory Authority undertakes the assessment and rating process. The Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority, ACECQA, is responsible for ensuring consistency in assessment and ratings across Australia, assessing services for the Excellent rating and creating awareness in the sector and community about the assessment and rating process.
St James Lutheran Kindergarten is a double room Kindergarten, catering for children between the ages of 3 and 5 years of age. The Kindergarten operates 48 weeks of the year, closing only for Christmas/New Year period. The Service offers extended operating hours, 8:00am until 5:00pm to cater for families who require longer hours of care with the benefits of their child attending a Queensland Government Approved Kindergarten Program. St James Kindergarten is fully Government subsidised, where families are able to claim their Child Care Benefit and Child Care Rebates. Being co-located on the grounds of St James Lutheran College, we have the opportunity to participate in many experiences and facilities offered by the College. The relationship the Kindergarten has with the Prep teachers and staff of the College, ensures a smooth transition for the children moving onto St James College to further their education. Our Kindergarten currently operates over-ratio staffing. There are 3 staff per room who are qualified and experienced in Early Childhood, teaching and caring for the children. As our Kindergarten operated extended hours, this also means that during school holidays, the Kindergarten operates as per usual, operating a ‘vacation program’.
