Family Day Care is a quality childcare offered in the homes of carefully selected & registered care providers. Family day care provides nurturing care in a secure and enriching home environment for babies and children up to 12 years of age. Carers work standard and non-standard hours allowing greater flexibility for families.
QLECS centrally manage two Family Day Care Schemes with Carers in a number of suburbs spanning the Brisbane, Logan and Beaudesert Districts. We also have a locally managed Family Day Care Scheme in Beenleigh.
Our FDC services are licensed with the Office for Early Childhood Education and Care and operate under the Child Care Act 2002 and Child Care Regulations 2003.
All QLECS FDC services are committed to ongoing quality improvement and adhere to the National Childcare Standards. Child Care Benefit (CCB) is available for eligible families.
The Carina, New Life and Beenleigh Family Day Care Schemes are members of the Family Day Care Association of Queensland and Family Day Australia.
Our Carers are supported by the FDC Coordination Unit. The role of the Co-ordination Unit is to support and guide Carers and to proactively work with them in the ongoing quality improvement process. Carers work in partnership with the Coordination Unit to uphold organisational values, meet required legislation and national standards and provide a service that is of high quality and professionally delivered. Co-ordinators are available for emergency support in the evenings, overnight and at weekends on an ‘on-call’ basis as well as during regular working hours.
For centrally managed services we have a Community Liaison Group (CLG) which operates in an advisory capacity, providing parent and local community input into the running of the service for the benefit of Children, Families and Carers. For locally managed services this is provided through the governance committee.
Equipment, toys and professional resources are available for borrowing by Carers.
Regular play sessions are held to promote networking and provide opportunities for children to interact with larger groups.
